News from Visitation Province (Canada)

This is the 3rd year for our presence at the Fortress of Louisbourg with Congregation de Notre-Dame Sisters and Associates informing tourists of Saint Marguerite’s journey. Lorrette Andrews and Dianne MacAskill had a visit from a PEI Mercy Associate Mary MacLean. Mary is also an ARCAN member.

September 24th is the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, celebrated worldwide in a special way by the Sisters of Mercy. Noted for their work among the poor, the Sisters of Mercy were founded by Catherine McAuley in 1831 in Dublin, Ireland. Known as the “walking nuns,” Catherine and her sisters literally picked up the poor off the streets of Dublin at a time of tremendous poverty and abject human misery, especially for women and children. They sheltered, clothed, educated and fed whoever needed care.

News from Blessed Sacrament Province (USA)

On August 15th, Regina DeVitto celebrated her Golden Jubilee at Our Lady at St. Germain Parish in Oak Lawn, Chicago. The beautiful liturgy was followed by a luncheon hosted by Pastor and long-time friend Fr. Tom Cabala. She is joined here by Kay Powers, Fr. Tom, Darleen Mayo, and Betty Kehoe.
