Educating Beyond the Classroom!

The Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame use the term “liberating education” to describe “the philosophy motivating our mission of education.” More specifically, “a liberating education is person centered and always conscious of the dignity of each person. It is an education which aims to develop the full potential of the student, preparing the student to become the agent of his/her own personal transformation.” (Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame, Liberating Education, 2010)

For us, a liberating education forms persons who are centered and always conscious of each one’s dignity. It is an education which aims to develop the full potential of the student, preparing the student to become the agent of his/her own personal transformation. A liberating education aims to lead students to become responsible citizens of the world, concerned and involved in the transformation of society and the care of our planet.


真の自由への教育をとおして Through liberating education,
私たちは次のような教育に献身します。 we engage, in an education

一人ひとりが自分を変容させる力を持っていることを考えに入れた教育 which considers each individual
共同体を築き、変容させる教育 as the agent of his / her own transformation;

自分自身の回心へと導く教育 which builds and transforms community;
相互の関係と連帯に招き入れる教育 which is demanding, calling for our own conversion, and inviting us to mutuality and solidarity.

私たちにとって真の自由への教育とは、人間を中心に置いた、一人ひとりの尊厳を常に考える教育です。この教育は、生徒の全ての可能性を十分に伸ばすことを目指します。生徒自身が自分を変容させる力となるように、その準備を整えます。また生徒が責任感のある社会人になるように指導することもこの教育の目標の一つです。社会人として社会の変容と地球環境の保護に積極的に取り組むように指導します。
