Developing Contemplative Presence: Heart Leaders for these Dangerous, Delicate Times

May 20th – 22nd 2016

This weekend offers us an opportunity to focus on a dimension of religious life that has been in the shadows for some time as religious women became activists in the years following the Vatican Council. Now, in a time of diminishing numbers and the limitations of aging members, a call to live more contemplatively and compassionately (Heart Presence) is arising in specific and urgent ways. During this weekend, both teaching and practicing will offer and encourage a practical welcoming of these dimensions into our lives.

Associate News

Provincial Chapter March 10-13, 2016: Fifteen associates will be representing the associates at the Provincial Chapter. On Saturday, March 12, they will meet with Sr. Jean McLoughlin, SSND to discern and elect one participant and two alternates for the August General Chapter. After the Provincial Chapter, they will share their experience and the results of that Chapter in local Associate communities. Please pray that the Spirit will guide all the associates and sisters at the Chapter. 

CORE Committee for Strategic Planning: On February 6, 12 pm – 3 pm, the Core Committee for Strategic Planning (“CCSP”) met for the second time, with four members at Wilton and four on group Skype. While each associate has received the results of this meeting, a brief review follows.

Visiting Sunny Hill

Associates Billie Porte and Denise Zielinski, along with Sister Bea Baker, visited with residents in the Sunny Hill nursing home and were touched by the elderly patients who had a sparkle in their eyes in the midst of their diminishing health. The visits gave joy to both the Congregation of Notre Dame family and residents as they chatted and prayed together.
