Celebrating 3 wonderful women

On Sunday, March 15th,  fifteen CND’s from Connecticut, New York and Jeannette Bolduc from Guatemala joined our Sisters at Andrus for the “Celebration of Women.” Three of our CND Sisters, Dorothy Siemsen, Eileen Kelly and Carolyn Kinnamon were among those honored. A slide presentation of the honorees and testimony to their many gifts inspired all present. After the presentation, a lovely reception provided time for congratulating and visiting with our honorees.

Movie Recommendation: CITIZENFOUR

CITIZENFOUR is a documentary detailing Edward Snowden's decision and actions to go public with National Security Agency (NSA) widespread collection of information both in US and internationally in the post 9-11 era. It won the 2015 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. Whether you consider him a hero whistleblower or a traitor the film provides an inside look at the extent of governments' collection of information, raising debate and concerns about individual privacy and freedom rights' infringements. These are issues flagged as being at the heart of Bill C-51 now before Canadian parliament.

A Vatican event last Sunday saw a remarkably open and frank discussion among women about the limits on their participation in church structures in what may have been the first such conversation ever to take place at the center of the Catholic hierarchy. (Joshua J. McElwee: NCR)
