Congratulations to Sr. Dorothy Maher

How wonderful it is when one is celebrated!!  On Friday, May 29th many gathered at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral to acknowledge and thank those who have served and continue to serve the Church of Montreal.  With several others, Dorothy Maher, CND received this year’s Monseigneur-Ignace-Bourget Diocesan Award of Merit.

For the last 28 years, Dorothy served the people of Holy Cross Parish where she initiated programs for spiritual growth and care for the impoverished and needy.   She encouraged community life within the parish so much so that the pastor described her work thus:  “I could not have had a more efficient partner in community work.” Bravo Dorothy!!!

An example of this is the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which is usually celebrated on a Friday in June. This year it is the second Friday.
