Summerside CND Associates gathered Monday evening, May 28, for their annual retreat and renewal of commitment. In a celebrative spirit Sister Eleanor McCloskey facilitated the session on the topic of “our common home” as called upon by Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Si’ and as selected as one of our directions at the last Chapter.

At the outset we were invited to recognize the interconnectedness of everything. We then reflected on several passages from Laudato Si’ followed by stimulating questions, such as: Where do you find God? Where does God find you? Do you take time in your busy life to contemplate beauty? Nature? Life-forms? How well do you live in the now moment? How big is your God?

As expected, Sister Eleanor’s presentation was informative, practical, humorous and yes, accompanied by a variety of props to concretize the message. All this under the watchful and joyful eye of a 12-inch bobbing Pope Francis. Following a fruitful and inspiring evening we had a closing prayer and renewal of commitments, refreshments in the dining room, and lively conversation. The 21 associates who recommitted for another year will resume their togetherness in September.
