Visitation Province

Welcome Home Debbie!!

On behalf of the sisters in Visitation Province, we extend a warm homecoming to you, Debbie.

We hope that these past three months of exploring ministry in Sierra Leone proved to be inspirational, as well as a time of deepening God’s call. We were deeply touched by your monthly updates describing the struggle and beauty in Sierra Leone.

We ask God and St. Marguerite to bless you and your next courageous steps in response to this call.

Area Gatherings

Sisters and associates have had many visitation experiences in the past couple of months. Our area gatherings have taken place in ten locations throughout Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Ontario and Nova Scotia.

It was a heartwarming experience for us to meet the sisters and associates in the various locations. It continues to be a joy to witness the spirit of enthusiasm and energy as we reflect on ways to live the peripheries in our lives.

Monica Lambton in her presentation helped us broaden our vision of how we might engage more consciously with the peripheries. It was a positive experience for Monica as these gatherings gave her an opportunity to deepen her work among us as JPIC coordinator.

Area gatherings will continue in April and May when sisters and associates in New Brunswick and the West will gather to experience “Bringing the Chapter Home”. On we go!

Team Building Days

The members of the administration team will meet with Bríd Long, SSL, at the Motherhouse, March 20 – 23, 2018. Our time together will include contemplative prayer, reflection and sharing, as well as team planning. This time with Bríd provides a deeper sense of direction and a spirit of cohesiveness as we deepen our commitment as a team.

The team will also be attending the LCWR New Leader Workshop in Mundelein, Illinois at the University of St. Mary of the Lake Conference Center from April 12-15, 2018. The conference will feature invaluable information on topics of critical importance for religious life leaders in the areas of spiritual leadership, canon and civil law, human development, team-building, care of the elderly and more. It will provide opportunities for councils to explore the implications of the presentations for themselves and for their congregations. The days will be set in a context honouring the mystery, grace, and power of God’s Spirit.

We count on your prayer as we continue our journey of leadership in the province.

Associate Relationship

Discernment Weekend for Potential Co-coordinators

Sister Nancy Hurren will be completing her term as co-coordinator in the West/North and associate Diane Foley has completed her term in the Central Region. On behalf of sisters and associates in Visitation Province, we extend our gratitude to these women for their dedication and faithfulness to Associate Relationship.

A discernment weekend is being planned to replace these co-coordinators. It will take place in Montreal on April 13-15, 2018. Sister Eileen Power will facilitate the discernment process. Six individuals who have generously accepted to allow their names to be put forward will continue their discernment. We ask you to pray that this group continue to be open to the Spirit.

2018 Visitation Province Associate Assembly

Our co-coordinators are busy as beavers preparing for their first Associate Assembly, which will take place at the Motherhouse from May 18-21, 2018. Sister Ona Bessette will be the presenter while Sister Josephine Badali will facilitate. This workshop whose theme is “On Fire for Mission” hopes to identify particular outcomes and actions that would deepen the effectiveness of Associate Relationship mission and vision. Please remember in your prayers the associates and sisters who will gather to reflect, share and commit!
