“Give it up for the Earth” Campaign for Lent

Anna Rowley & Marjorie Allison-Ross, associates

This Lent, February 14th to March 29th, Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ) invites our participation in their faith-in-action campaign to increase climate justice in Canada. “Give it up for the earth”, a postcard campaign, includes a pledge to individual climate action and a call for the Government of Canada to immediately end all subsides to the fossil fuel sector. Completed postcards returned to CPJ will be delivered to Minister Catherine McKenna at the conclusion of the campaign. Although the postcards include postage, if you add a stamp it will help CPJ offset the cost of all the free materials they send to groups like ours. This Lent let’s Give it up for the earth! Don’t forget to take a picture of your group with your individual pledges and post-cards for the newsletter.

In 2015, the Congrégation de Notre-Dame approved a Corporate Stance on Climate. We have been encouraged to make climate action a priority. It is hoped that our efforts with the postcard campaign “To Give it up for the Earth” will help to persuade the Canadian Government “to end all subsidies to the fossil fuel sector right away.”

Join the Campaign!
