by William G. Storey

https://www.ignatianspirituality.com/advent

First Week

All-powerful God, increase our strength of will for doing good that Christ may find an ea-ger welcome at his coming and call us to his side in the kingdom of heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. ~AMEN.

Second Week

God of power and mercy open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy so that we may share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. ~AMEN.

Third Week

Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. We ask this through Christ our Lord. ~AMEN.

Fourth Week

Father, all-powerful God, your eternal Word took flesh on our earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan. Lift our minds in watchful hope to hear the voice which announces his glory and open our minds to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming. We ask this through Christ our Lord. ~AMEN.

New Brunswick Associates and Sisters Gather in Fredericton

Submitted by Marjorie Allison-Ross

Associates from Fredericton, Miramichi and Woodstock gathered at St Theresa’s Parish Hall in Fredericton on November 6 for their annual gathering. The Riverview Associates were unable to attend. Coordinators Anna Rowley and myself shared the presentation that we along with the other 10 Associates who attended the Visitation Province Chapter in July 2017 gave to the Sisters attending the Chapter. Three new Frederic-ton Associates (Merla Spires, Carole Dilworth and Marilyn Rowen) and one Woodstock Visitor, Barb Woodland, attended the NB Area Day. We acknowledged that in 2017, Sr. Charlotte Lockhart celebrated her 65th Anniversary of her profession and Sr. Eleanor McCloskey celebrated her 60th!! Congratulations and Blessings to you both and thank you for all you do for Associate Relationship!

Congratulations Edith Corbett!

St. Dunstan’s Catholic Women’s League, Fredericton, NB, presented Edith Corbett with the Maple Leaf Service Pin in 2017. This pin is awarded to an active member who has served the CWL in an ex ceptional or meritorious manner. Edith is also a long standing Fredericton Associate.

Summerside CND Convent Celebrates 25th Jubilee for Sister Melba, CND from Honduras

Submitted by Sr Marie L Arsenault

Sister Melba, a CND from Honduras has been our guest since October 8 and will remain with us till November 30. She will then return to Montreal from where she will prepare to go on mission in New York. It was amidst much joy coupled with surprises that we celebrated her silver jubilee on Friday November 10th in Summerside. She was aware we were celebrat-ing her but had no idea that sisters from other areas were invited. Surprise, sur-prise when we gathered to pray to have twelve additional sisters present to celebrate with us including Sisters Eileen McQuaid and Ann Broderick. Thanks everyone for the beautiful CND intercultural support… Frances prepared a prayer service with the following opening prayer:

Risen Jesus, we rejoice in the light of your presence among us as we gather in this circle of love. We rejoice, for you bring to fulfillment all you desire us to be for your people. We rejoice in your faithfulness to Melba through these twenty-five years as she journeyed in the footsteps of Mary and Marguerite. Be with us in our celebration as we remember and pray in thanksgiving and joy for all that has been and for all that will be. Amen
