Visitation 2013 - a time for rejoicing because of the gift of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame to each of us and of us to the Congrégation de Notre-Dame & a time of welcoming.

Welcome Six New Associates: In the May Newsletter, we highlighted two of our new Associates, Helen Doon, St. Columba Convent, NY, and Joan Pesce, Waterbury, CT. In this newsletter, we will introduce the remaining four. We are grateful for their commitment to the CND!

Mary Kozlowski of the South Holland, IL/IN Associate Community became a CND Associate on June 1st in Chicago surrounded by Sisters and Associates. It is appropriate that her guide through the Associate Formation and good friend, Karen, is in this picture with Mary. Mary Kozlowski is a true nurturer and caregiver to family and friends. No wonder, “Marguerite's selflessness and helping others no matter what the task” inspire her.

Kind, loving, generous with a wonderful sense of humor, Mary has had significant parish and diocesan leadership positions.

Alicia Parkinson

Alicia Parkinson became a CND Associate on May 5 in Kankakee, IL. Her daughter, granddaughter and cousin joined sisters and Associates to celebrate with her. Alicia finds joy and energy in her busy retired life as mother, grandmother, organizer of the parish St. Vincent de Paul Society, member of the Joliet Diocese Social Justice Coalition. She feels her Christian vocation is “seizing any and all opportunities to do the Lord's work”. A graduate of Bishop McNamara High School, she has built on her early appreciation of Marguerite Bourgeoys and the CND. She relates easily to “Marguerite's wisdom and courage” and experiences Marguerite from her extensive reading and prayer as “confidant, mentor, friend and mother”. Alicia embraces the CND Associate Relationship with great enthusiasm.

At Notre Dame Academy Chapel, Staten Island, Janice Amitrano and Ellen Boegel became Associates on May 31.

Janice Amitrano and husband Richard

Janice Amitrano, Staten Island, NY, is a strong woman with deep faith. “God has carried me through my life”. This has been demonstrated in her family life (mother of two adult sons), parish, community and professional life. As a religion teacher and campus minister at Notre Dame Academy High School, SI, she had learned previously of the charism, spirit and mission of Marguerite Bourgeoys and knows CND's, working closely with Sr. Anne Seeley. Janice wrote “I would trust that my leadership would model and facilitate the charism of Marguerite and CND spirituality”. Janice does this with great facility and becoming an Associate enhances her witness at NDA.

Associates Ellen Boegel and Sharon Norton at Liberty State Park, NJ, May 29, 2013

Ellen Boegel, Staten Island, NY, is a seeker. She is a woman of great integrity, articulate and passionate about issues regarding justice and equality. As a Professor of Legal Studies at St. John's University, she challenges her students and involves them in issues of immigration. How appropriate is this picture showing her and her good friend, Sharon, witnessing their commitment to immigration reform! A devoted wife and mother of two children in college and one graduated, Ellen is a woman for whom living a Christian life “means being constantly challenged by the Gospels”. The Associate Relationship enables Ellen to keep integrating her spirituality and mission within CND community.

Welcome Eight New Candidates for the Associate Relationship: Saturday, May 11, at South Holland, IL, three women, Billie Porte, Denise Zielinski and Eva Williams, became Associate Candidates. Sr. Bea Baker has been meeting with these three women from Joliet to introduce Marguerite and the Associate Relationship to them. They were joyously received by the Associates and Sisters.

On Tuesday, May 14, five women, Maria Vasquez, Blanca Sauceda, Maria Rosas, Guadalupe Rodriquez and Paula Chapas, became Associate Candidates at Holy Cross Parish, Chicago, IL. Sisters Mary Mac Isaac and Bea Baker have been meeting monthly with these women to prepare them to become Candidates for the Associate Relationship. They each bring rich understanding of the Visitation and Marguerite Bourgeoys.

We rejoice with and promise our prayer for these eight women in their continued journey as Associate Candidates.
