A Visitation to The Small Plot

On Saturday, October 20th our eight‐year old spirituality group paid a visit to The Small Plot, in Three Brooks, Pictou County.

There, we met a community of three sisters: Becky McKenna, Eileen Roach and Mary Corbett ‐ in the prime of life, carving soul out of soil in The Small Plot.

How do they do this?

In many ways, by getting their hands dirty, doing the physical work of the property, at times with help from neighbors, friends and family. Eileen says after one year, she's now relating well with insect‐infested logs. They are connecting with the elderly and the ill, parish and church groups, folks at Tim Hortons and environmental groups. They invite people and groups into centering prayer, meditation and spiritual guidance.

As they share their daily life, the three sisters invite the soil to teach them soul lessons, allowing the soil of life to carve out the meaning of life. Through the eyes of the three women gleams a pearl of great price for our time: a visitation that invites all in this universe to share the honor of pursuing lives of sister/brotherhood with all that is: human, plant, animal, all the elements and spirit. Try a visitation. You'll like it.
