20th Naramata

The long weekend in May found many of the western and northern CND's and Associates gathered on the beautiful grounds of Naramata, BC, a United Church Conference Centre in the South Okanogan wine country.

We were happy to have Sister Ann Broderick, CND, join us to reflect and celebrate with us. This annual event is always a precious time to reconnect across our vast distances, to catch up on the events of our lives, to deepen our appreciation of an aspect of our CND call and to celebrate what God has done among us.

This year we had the pleasure of Monica Lambton's leadership, informing us of the work JPIC is presently developing, and encouraging us in a gentle and persuasive way to join in the action. As many of us live and minister in mining areas we were moved by her presentation on mining and the harm that many companies, both at home and abroad, inflict on the environment and the well being of the people who live nearby.

We journeyed home reinvigorated by this our 20th western gathering.
