Sister Jeanne Normand, CND

On December 8, 2015, during a special 10:30 a.m. Mass, the sisters of the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Infirmary and Our Lady of Peace Community were invited to mark, in their own significant and memorable way, the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council and the beginning of the Jubilee Year of Mercy (December 8, 2015 – November 20, 2016).Truly good news!

To imitate the celebration of the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica by Pope Francis, held that same day, the infirmary’s pastoral team conceived and erected a symbolic holy door at the chapel’s entrance. Organ music and choir accompanied a procession, made up of the presiders and the various participants in the Liturgy, past the symbolic holy door. Through its threshold then crossed the elderly sisters, in varying degrees of illness, disability and weakness, who live in the assisted living facilities. Also present to witness this event were sisters from other Congregation of Notre Dame communities and visitors. All were delighted to be able to celebrate the occasion in such a beautiful and meaningful way. Passing through this symbolic door was, for all, a moment of great joy and gratitude
