General Chapter 2016: Election Process

Arlita Matte, CND

From August 23-26, 2016, Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame, gathered in General Chapter, are discerning and entering an election process.

During Chapter, delegates elect the sisters who will form the new leadership team for the next five years: the Congregation Leader, the Associate to the Congregation Leader and the other councillors. The election process unfolds in several stages:

  • Prior to the General Chapter, after a time of personal reflection and of sharing in small groups, each Congrégation de Notre-Dame sister confidentially proposes the names of sisters to whom she would entrust the roles of Congregation Leader, Associate to the Congregation Leader and Councillors.
  • These names are compiled and the sisters whose names have been proposed are notified so that they may begin discerning whether they are willing to have their names on the list of candidates.
  • A final list is then compiled and is submitted to the delegates who are present at Chapter.

During the election process, each ballot is preceded by a time of reflection and prayer.

Our prayerful support to all Chapter delegates.
